American Institutes for Research (AIR) is partnering with Ancora Publishing to bring the The Third Quest reading program to districts across the country to support striving readers in grades 6 or 7.

The Third Quest is a comprehensive reading intervention for older readers. The Third Quest builds foundational reading skills within the context of engaging informational text and compelling narrative fiction. Comprehensive lessons build word recognition skills, vocabulary, content knowledge, comprehension, fluency and study skills.

The Third Quest also incorporates effective behavior management strategies to ensure an interactive learning environment that engages adolescent students. Each lesson incorporates employability skills related to perseverance, teamwork, professionalism, and integrity.

Excited educators across the country are reporting that students’ grades are improving in core classes, test scores are on the rise, and importantly students are demonstrating greater confidence — even volunteering to read.

Teachers, interventionists and even paraprofessionals can be trained to facilitate The Third Quest lessons – all with good results!

The Third Quest reading intervention is designed to be implemented during a 40-45 minute period.  In most schools teachers begin a lesson one day and finishing it the next which results in students receiving a full year of the implementation.

The Third Quest is administered to small groups of students (no more than 12).
